Unthinkable

I am about to do the unthinkable. DUN DUN DUN. Cue creepy scary music.
I am going to post my blog link on Facebook and reveal to my world that I have a blog.

So, hey Facebook people :)

Of course this meant that I had to quickly go back through my posts and make sure I didn't have anything mean posted. I didn't and how dare you think I did. I'm a lovely person.
I'm actually quite nervous to post the link on Facebook because it feels kind of weird to talk to real life people and friends about the internet. My mom told me to though, so I guess I have to. Gotta listen to momma.

Speaking of momma, we had an awesome dinner last night with my sisters (Kaitey and Brenda) and all the little ones. It was Bang Bang Shrimp night at Bonefish Grill. If you have never had Bang Bang, you have never lived. It's DELISH.

Aren't you hungry now?
We had fun and just chatted the whole time. Chloe (Brenda's two year old) ate bread with chopstick and got chocolate all over her face. It was pretty adorable.
Quinn and I both dressed up a little so my mom took a picture of us. (You'll see a picture of my mom and Quinn from last night when I do my next Project 366 post.)

The chocolate Chloe got on her face came from the most delicious chocolate creme brulee I've ever had. I'll let the picture speak for itself.

NOM NOM NOM
Okay, off to go post the link. Wish me luck!

Seven Questions

Thanks to Alyx I've found Gentri's 7 Questions, so now I have something to write about today.

1. What is your favorite color TO WEAR?
Definitely blues and greens. Although I wear a lot of grey and black. Just about any color (other than coral) looks pretty good on me, if I do say so myself.

2. You are given the choice between visiting every country and landing on the moon. Which would you choose?
Every country. I'd have issues being that high up. There's no chance of survival if something goes wrong and I'd just be in a corner freaking out, haha.

3. What's your favorite animal and why?
Tigers, I think. I'm not sure I actually have a favorite.

4. You are forced to do one of the following, which would you choose? Sky dive, scuba dive, or this:

I NEVER want to go sky diving, but I'd probably try the other two. I'd love to go scuba diving.

5. You are given the chance to go back in time. Which era would you visit?
That's a tough question. Provided I'd get to come back I'd choose the Victorian or Edwardian era.

6. If you had the power to remove one thing (ie: flies, mosquitos, junk food) from the earth for good- what would it be?
Trans fat, haha. That way I can still eat the yummy junk food, but it wouldn't be as bad. I'm sure that we "need" a little of them, but I can live in my own little world, right?

7. What is one thing you've learned from Pinterest that made you think "GENIUS"!
Just about everything. Check out my Tips & Tricks board. I can't wait to try them all.

I know it's not much, but hey, at least it's a post right? I'm going out to dinner with my mom, sisters, aunt, daughter, & nephew tonight. Depending on how that goes, maybe there'll be a post tomorrow, haha.

68-84

I really need to start posting these daily pictures more often so they aren't so long (that's what she said). I debated putting a break in the post, but I get really annoyed when I have to click on that in other people's blogs so y'all can just scroll.

68. This is the first time J fed Quinn non-bottle food. He was actually pretty good at it, but he still doesn't like to do it. He always feels like he's gonna do something wrong.

69. I made these pizza rolls via a recipe on Pinterest (found here) and let me just tell you they are easy and delicious. Three to four ingredients and done in under ten minutes. Can't beat that.

70. My mom, step-sister, and I (along with the babies) went and got coffee. My coffee sleeve looked like a crown when I put it on my nephew's head. He was not amused.

71. J's mom got bunny ears at Wal-Mart (oh how I hate and love thee) and of course J put them on. I'm worried for Quinn's future toys at the hands of her daddy.

72. Seriously, who can resist baby feet? SO ADORABLE.

73. She was mightily confused in regards to the sun hat, but it's so cute!

74. Darci got a job nearby and until she moves up there she's staying on our couch on Wednesday nights. Quinn is loving her Aunt Darci time :) (So am I!)

75. I had her playing in her crib with the giant stuffed Pooh so I could quickly put away her clothes. And I mean quickly, less than five minutes. When I turned around she was just giggling with her legs hanging out. She fixed it herself right after I snapped the picture and went back to hugging Pooh.

76. Another attempted Pinterest recipe, but this time I failed. Our oven apparently runs hotter than it's supposed to. I burned the poor kale chips (recipe here), but I will try again!

77. This was about as celebratory as I got on St. Patrick's day. I did manage to put on a shirt with some green on it (purely by accident) later in the day. This smoothie was DELISH. Spinach, cantaloupe (which I always need spellcheck for), ice, banana, yummy.

78. Pitiful, tired bambina.

79. If you follow me on Twitter (@bybreenah) you know that I FINALLY FIT INTO SOME PRE-PREGNANCY JEANS. It was a momentous occasion, let me tell you. Please excuse the awkward angle, but I only have a point and shoot.

80. Finally got to work on Quinn's dress over at my step-sister's house. Currently the top and skirt are together and all I have to do is sew in the zipper. We'll see how that goes.

81. I was going through books I need to sell/donate/etc and found a super old costume book that has some, um, non-pc drawings/descriptions. Amusing though.

82. I turn my back for one second and she's after the iPad again. At least she was "reading" the Smithsonian, right?

83. Baby escape! J was not pleased that I made him wrangle her for another ten seconds while I snapped the picture.

84. Gotta take pictures when I dress her up fancy. This was us out at lunch with J's mom, step-dad, and grandpa (who was visiting from Texas). She had much fun being cooed over :)

Hunger Games Review

Possible spoilers, duh.

All in all, I abso-freaking-lutely LOVED it. The only thing I would have changed is that they would have made it longer to add more things, but I guess not everybody wants to sit through a 3-4 hour movie. Oh, I also would have changed how they filmed it. It was too jerky at times.

Random thing that doesn't fit anywhere else: Liam Hemsworth looks much better on film than in pictures. I still can't believe he's dating Miley Cyrus. That coupling just seems odd.

I would have liked to see:
Madge. I feel like how Katniss got the pin, and the history of it, was pretty dang important. It would have been easy to just have Madge.
More pre-reaping time with Gale and Katniss, but I understand why they left it out.
More time with Cinna's team. I loved them in the books.
A little more Gale. I know he isn't really in the first book much while Katniss is at the games, but I didn't really like how they flashed to him only when Peeta and her kissed.
"You here to finish me off, sweetheart?" There were a few direct quotes I missed.
Peeta's prosthetic leg. Uh, isn't that kind of important?

I loved:
Rue. She was adorable and perfect.
Peeta. I'm surprised I loved him because I was originally turned off by how short Josh Hutcherson is.
Prim was also fabulous and perfect. When Gale had to carry her off, I cried.
Elizabeth Banks as Effie was amazing. J didn't even recognize her. My favorite quote of the movie: "That's mahogany!"
Really, all the casting was spot on. So were the costumes and make-up. Jealous of those people.

I really cannot wait until the next movie. I'm going to go rent every Jennifer Lawrence movie now and make J watch them with me.

Confessions Link Up

1. I have a Snuggie and to make this even more of a confession my mommy bought it for me. It's zebra print and I wear it all the time when it's cold. I am not ashamed. J is a little bit, though.

2. I'm redonkulously excited for Hunger Games today. J and I are taking my not-so-little brother and his friend. It's JT's Christmas present, but I get to benefit too! I'm trying to suppress my overwhelming excitement so as to not freak J out, but it's getting annoying talking about characters and having him have no idea what I'm talking about. He doesn't read :( In the same vein, I'd love to be friends with Jennifer Lawrence. She seems awesome.
via
3. I tend to forget the laundry. Especially if there's other sound going on so I don't notice it stopping since our dryer doesn't have a buzzer. Luckily I don't usually forget it long enough for it to wrinkle or sour. Whenever we get a new washer and dryer I'm gonna demand it has a buzzer on it, but I can't complain too much since these were free (thanks Brenda & Jake!).

Don't forget, Alyx is linking up tomorrow with Hunger Games reviews! I've never written a movie review before, but I'm gonna try!

Pooey Shopping Trip

Last night Quinn slept much better, which is the only reason why I didn't have a mild breakdown at the grocery store today.

I've been meaning to start using re-usable bags and what did I do? I forgot them. There happened to be a demonstration with the promise of free gifts going on, so I thought "Why not?" and went to listen to it. After a few minutes we all got a thing called a glamorizer that makes fruits and veggies look pretty and also easily zests fruits. Cool. Then he goes on and on and on about this really cool mandolin with multiple blades, but no more free things. I felt really stupid for listening that long, but thought maybe it'd be affordable so I'd listen til I heard the price. It was $30 (down from $50, of course) which isn't bad, but more than I had to spend on extra stuff. Quinn started getting fussy (which is when I started feeling really stupid for wasting time instead of shopping) so we went off to start actually shopping and she cheered up. Especially with all the ladies stopping to coo at her.
I just stated using e-mealz by Dave Ramsey (got a Groupon for 50% off!) and so I had a new grocery list to use and it was slightly messing me up. Not that my normal shopping list is very organized. We get partway through shopping and I have a fussy baby again. I realize that the stupid demo took long enough that it's time for her to eat again so I fix a bottle. It's difficult to feed a baby a bottle (she won't hold it herself all the time) and push a shopping cart. It's also difficult to keep her happy while doing both things. She wasn't exactly happy, but she was okay so we kept on shopping.
Then I dropped two things of baby food and they shattered on the floor. You'd think they'd make those jars more sturdy. Luckily the manager was in the next aisle over and he was nice about it. We keep shopping and I finally decide to carry Quinn while pushing with one hand so that she'll stay happy and I can hopefully finish shopping. That was a no-go. After getting TEN things of water (they were on sale for only $0.49/ea if you bought ten) into the cart we finally headed to the checkout.
It was PACKED. Probably because it's payday Friday. Another lane finally opened and I headed over there. After loading up all of our stuff (we apparently eat a lot) and the two WIC orders I think we can finally leave and I can put Quinn down for a nap. Nope, four of the baby food jars I got were wrong. Thankfully we were right near the baby aisle so I just had the lady scan some of the ones I already got and just zipped and got some more and finally we could leave and a nice elderly guy helped us out to the car.
Then I thought I lost my keys! Haha! I had them in the front seat. Because I had just used them to unlock my car.
We got home, Quinn went down for a nap, I unloaded the car, and all was good. Any other day I would have probably had a mental breakdown and called my mom crying. I did call my mom, but it was to tell her how I'm pretty sure God knew I was going to have a crappy shopping trip so He made sure Quinn slept well.

Wow that was a lot longer than I meant for it to be. Hopefully I'll get off my lazy bum (not literally, of course) and get some pictures up.

And now a message from your local Quinn:

Funk

Not as in funky and awesome, but as in I'm in a funk.

It sucks.
Or, as my mom would prefer, stinks.

I don't know if it's because of the rain the past few days after a million days of 80F weather or just general moodiness on my part or what.

I am going to blame part of it on the bambina's lack of good sleep. Her crappy sleep schedule makes mine and J's sleep schedules HORRENDOUS. No, I'm not exaggerating. She's perfectly fine for naps and when we first lay her down at night. It lulls us into a false sense of security. Once she wakes up in the middle of the night there's no going back to peacefulness. She screams and cries if we try to lay her down. Clean diaper, bottle, singing and she's sleeping like a baby (duh) in our arms. As soon as we try to lay her down it's WAAAHHHing so loud, I'm thankful we don't have neighbors at the moment. Lest you think I'm horrible and completely annoyed by her, let me insert an adorable picture here:

I mean, really. How could I stay annoyed at that angel? I do still wish she'd sleep better.

Blogging Instead of Doing

My excuse for blogging about my to-do list instead of doing it is that I'm still half asleep. That's what happens when your baby gets up at 5 am after you had just put her back to sleep at 3:45 and your husband knocks over your first cup of coffee. She went back to sleep right after J went to work, but I couldn't. These are the things I need to get done. Mostly as soon as possible.

1. Quinn's Easter Dress.

I have no idea what I was thinking when I agreed with Brenda to make the girls' Easter dresses this year. I had a 54 year old machine (that decided to break) and hadn't actually sewn anything with a pattern since high school. J got me a new sewing machine for Valentine's Day (because he's awesome like that) and I finally got the bobbin filled and the machine threaded. I was going to practice on some clearance fabric I got at Wally World, but needed to wash it first. It's now sitting in a pile of clothes to be put away. Which brings me to...

2. Piles of clean laundry.

It gets this big because I wait until the hamper is overflowing to do the laundry and usually find one more load picking up random bits of (mostly J's) clothing around the apartment. One basket is completely Quinn's stuff (that I can now put away easily because my BFF [reminds me of that commercial, "my BFF Jill"] Darci helped me organize it), another is a mixture of all of ours, and the luggage is filled with summer stuff that needs switched out since it's getting into the EIGHTIES (in Fahrenheit, obvs).

3. Cleaning in general.
Honestly, it's getting ridiculous. Luckily my mom is coming over sometime this weekend to watch Quinn so J and I can get down to business (to defeat the Huns) and rearrange the living room. I'm in the middle of going through a bunch of stuff and have two and a half bags of donations. I just need a little more storage room and we'd be good.

Fugalicious

When you hear March Madness, you probably think basketball. This March I'm filling out a fashion bracket for Go Fug Yourself's Fug Madness. It pits the fashionably challenged of Hollywood against each other to see who's the fugliest of them all. (With all the "fug" going on, my spellcheck is going bonkers!) I'm not sure if any of my MANY readers (read: Alyx, haha) know about them, but I figured I'd share my bracket anyway. I'm bad at brackets because I fill them out how I want it to be and not really how I think it will wind up, but there you go anyway.

The Best Laid Plans

You know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men. Well, I thought I did. I had to Google the rest of the quote. Anywho, as I was saying my plans also went astray. One of these days I'll get the hang of this blogging thing. Until then my to-do list is growing by the minute and I have no idea where to start. Pictures 52 - 67

So, I need to get these posted tonight because I'm starting a blog picture challenge tomorrow that will take care of the next 30 photos. I'm kind of excited for it because I'll actually have a direction of what to take a picture of instead of just having to rely on something happening.

52. Sorry for the horrible quality, it's a cell phone picture. This is from Quinn's 6 month shots. She only cried for a minute and calmed down as soon as I picked her up. And she got a hot pink band-aid, so all was fine.

53. Another cell phone picture. What can I say? I got bad at remembering to take pictures. Quinn has finally learned how to take her socks off. Unfortunately they go straight to her mouth.

54. Then I got my own band-aid, but it was plain. It was from giving blood. I hadn't donated blood since 2008-ish, so I was a little nervous, but all went well and three people's lives were saved.

55. Pardon the not-so-great picture of me (there's one more of those to come), but this is from right after I got the pink in my hair. I abso-freaking-lutely LOVE it. I had never been able to have unnatural colors in my hair either due to being too young, school or work not allowing it, or needing "normal" hair for theatre. That's just one more thing Quinn gave me, the ability to have colored hair and tattoos (hopefully coming soon!).

56. My baby finally has hair!!! I was so excited when J called me into the bathroom to point it out. I knew she'd get hair sooner or later, but I'm happy it's finally here, haha.

57. This is our normal dinner set up. We don't have a dining room table (not really room for one with everything else) and we prefer to eat with Quinn (and in front of the tv, lol, but that'll change when she gets older). She likes it too, I think.

58. Possibly a weird picture, but I was excited that I finally cleaned out the fridge and freezer. Besides, all the famous people on "Cribs" show what's in their fridge, so why shouldn't I? No Cristal or Patron, but I've got milk and Arizona Arnold Palmer!

59. This is about as good of a family portrait as we can get right now. Neither Quinn nor I looking at the camera and J's making a funny face. All fairly normal.

60. Look at that drool!!! Actually, I made a parody to LMFAO's song. "Ooh, look at that drool, ooh, look at that drool, ooh, look at that drool. I spit up. Crawl in the crib, this is what I see: All the other babies trying to look like me. I got a diaper in my pants and I ain't afraid to show it, show it, show it. I'm a cute baby and I know it." I think I've found a new calling. Is Weird Al still doing his thing?

61. This one doesn't have a story behind it. She's just being adorable.

62. She's started sitting up all by herself! She has to be put there, but she'll stay for a LONG time. I can't believe she's growing up so fast. It's ridiculous, I tell you.

63. My mom and step-dad  took us out for dinner and I got this YUMMY pomegranate margarita. Carlos O'Kelly's is probably as far away from real Mexican food as you can be (save for Taco Bell), but it's all still so good!

64. Quinn was laying on the floor actually feeding herself instead of spraying the formula everywhere and J had just gotten himself a Gatorade and laid down next to her. I couldn't resist taking a picture. When I asked him if it was okay to post to the blog he said yes so I could "show everybody how adorable" he is.

65. I'm so excited to finally start this book! I put off buying it because I own the first two in paperback and wanted the third in paperback as well, but decided I just couldn't wait any longer. I love these books and think it's stupid that Hollywood remade it when the Swedish version was done only three years ago. If you can read, subtitles are not that hard. And Noomi Rapace did a much better job as Lisbeth Salander.

66. I just step around the corner for a second and she tries to make a break for the wipes. She likes the crinkly sound.

67. I painted my nails for the first time in FOREVER. I've mentioned before that I bit my nails horribly most of my life and when I was pregnant I was able to stop. Then the stress of not knowing what to do with a baby got to me and if they weren't painted I started biting them again. It got particularly bad and then I just couldn't stop. I finally decided to put my foot down and just paint them so I'd stop sticking them in my mouth. How weird is it to constantly have your fingers in your mouth anyway? If you're not a baby, that is.

Confessions

Once again it's time for my (fairly mild) confessions. I hope they're interesting to somebody, haha.

1. Quinn and I stayed in our jammies more than we got dressed this week. We got dressed one day to take a walk and yesterday to go to dinner and church with my mom and stepdad. I think that's it. On the plus side, it means my jeans that are starting to rip are getting a longer life.

2. I had a beer at noon today. I organized the fridge and there wasn't room for it so I just drank it. I don't do that on a normal basis and one beer doesn't affect me so I'm not in danger or anything, but it was kind of weird.

via
3. I hate drinking water. It has to be flavored with something or I cannot drink it. Especially tap water and lukewarm water. It has to be ice cold and flavored. It can just be with lemon or something, but cannot be plain. Ick.

Yeah, that's all I've got for you this week. Lo siento mis lectores. Maybe if I left the house more often I'd have more to confess, haha.
