Confessions Number 7

1. Apparently the only way I can get my apartment clean is to completely forgo electronics (mostly the internet) for a day. I didn't get on any social networking sites for most of yesterday (I did check Bloglovin' and e-mail, but that's because I didn't want it to be crazy today). My kitchen looks pretty darn good now, though :)

2. I was up at 4:45 this morning. Almost two hours ago and I feel fine. Hopefully that lasts throughout the day. I was up because Quinn woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep. I wasn't happy at first, but I got the dishwasher emptied and the dirty dishes cleaned and put in the dishwasher. I'm tempted to start waking up this early everyday. Somebody tell me I'm crazy.

3. I've been painting my nails a LOT lately (if you've checked out my instagrammed posts, you'd know) but I'm getting super annoyed by the state of my nail polishes. They're old and crappy. I really want to throw out all my make-up and nail polishes and start from scratch, but (and here comes the confession) my fake shopping cart costs well over $100. And that's from cheap places like ELF, no expensive MAC for this girl. How can I possibly want/use/need that much? I'm gonna start saving and it WILL happen. First on my list is red lipstick. And this entire nail polish collection:

Instagrammed Week 2

1. Quinn and I took a road trip to Hastings to sell some books (and use the entire profit to buy the first Game of Thrones book). They had some, er, interesting Hunger Games merchandise. This is the Gale action figure. I have no more words.
2. These are my nails earlier today. The polish is apparently too old and wouldn't dry so I took it off. Even with two bottom coats of clear my nails still stained. I was not a happy camper, but they're grey now so I'll live.
3. I was straightening my bangs and decided this is gonna be my new look. Sexy, right?
4. Quinn never lets me put glasses on her, even her own sunglasses anymore, without ripping them off before I can get a picture. Solution? Put a bottle in her mouth, haha!
5. A picture from my April Photo a Day. Look how small her feetsies are!
6. Another item from Hastings. I would've bought this for my sister, Kaitey, but it was $20. That's a bit much for a pimp cup, Batman or not.
7. Some of the books I got Quinn at the Cupcake Consignment Sale. I love that sale, but it only happens twice a year.
8. My polka dot nails from earlier in the week. ELF in Mint Cream and Sally Hansen in Commander in Chic

More Pictures!

98. I printed out labels for my Easter food (and didn't wind up using them), but look how off the colors from my screen to printer are. Ridiculous I tell you.

99. This is my BABY BROTHER with my baby girl on Easter. He's shaving now! That is just preposterous I tell you. He's perpetually 7 in my mind. He's really gonna be 16 this year. WEIRD.

100. This is the only picture I took this day. To tell the truth I don't really remember what was going on, haha.

101. Oh no. She's starting the texting and drinking already! What am I gonna do when she's a teenager? (FYI that is a semi-broken, no longer a phone iPhone. We just use it to play games.)

102. I am so embarrassed by this picture I didn't even watermark it. If anybody asks I'm gonna deny it is mine. Seriously, who lets their dryer get that messy? It was gross, but I cleaned it since my grandparents were coming. It is still clean thankyouverymuch.

103. This was Quinn's reaction on meeting her great grandparents (my mom's parents from Washington) for the first time. Granted, she had also just woken up, but the expression on her face is priceless.

104. Quinn has enough hair to where the hairbows leave a mark! This was an exciting and monumental day for us, haha.

105. I made the banana "ice cream" recipe that's been floating around. I added in peanut butter and chocolate chips. It was okay. I think I should have let the banana get riper (more ripe?) before freezing it so it would have been sweeter.

106. I am flabbergasted every time I catch Quinn just chilling out in some random yoga-esque pose. Apparently she was in the mood to snack on some toesies.

107. Isn't she just adorable? And ooooh, look at that spit about to drop!

108. This is a failed attempt at a WIW post. I only have a point and shoot, it's kind of busted at the moment, and J is really not good at taking pictures. Needless to say, that post will not come to fruition. (Sidenote: is it weird I use phrases like "come to fruition"? Is that normal?) Anyway, these are another pair of pre-preggo pants! Well, I kinda wore them while pregnant, but only up to 4 months and they were TIGHT. But now I have to wear a belt with them. I also learned that those shoes no longer fit very well. Poopers.

109. Speaking of the semi-busted camera, this is what's going on. It's a year and a half old (which is OLD in terms of BreenahCameras), but wasn't particularly expensive. We just needed a camera to take pictures of pregnant me and the bambina and had a Sears giftcard to use. I hoping I'll be able to get it fixed cheaply because (of course) the warranty was only a year.

110. I got bangs! But if you ever go to the Paul Mitchell academy in east Wichita, ask for a Phase 2 student. The student did an okay job, but didn't cut enough. I fixed it when I got home :)

111. Homemade Mac'n'Cheese using Pioneer Woman's recipe. It was super good, except I added too much thyme. I feel like there's a stupid joke about never having too much time/thyme coming on... I'll stop while I'm ahead.

112. My parents, Brenda, and I went to the Midwest Winefest and it was AWESOME. Like, I don't think I could explain the awesomeness of it. There was food and wine and auctions and wine and fun. I can't wait until next year. I'm gonna make J go.

113. Here's Quinn and I just looking cute. I love her model pose, haha!

114. I got Quinn some books at a consignment sale and even though she's a little young for them (don't worry, I'm not trying to potty train my 8 month old) she is apparently very excited to read them.

115. First time using RIT! I was so excited that they actually turned out cute, if not evenly colored. I also dyed a onesie for Quinn and it's super cute too :D I'm gonna ruffle some giraffe print ribbon to put on the bum, I think.

116. This is how I found Quinn when she woke up this morning. What did I do? Ran and  got my camera of course. I don't even know how she gets herself into some of these predicaments.

Instagrammed Week 1

  1. The playground at our apartment at sunset.
  2. A mish-mosh of beans, corn, and rice for dinner.
  3. Painted my nails. Random periwinkle from Hot Topic & Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri Uptempo Plum.
  4. Found a snake on our walk to Wal-Mart. Just glad J wasn't with us otherwise he probably would have played with it.
  5. My grandparents from Washington visited for awhile to meet Quinn. They fell in love immediately, who wouldn't?
  6. I donated blood and they had to move the needle after it was in my arm because the blood wasn't flowing quick enough. I have a bruise now, but at least it looks cool ;)
  7. I'm addicted to Draw Something. I'm kinetictamale on there if you'd like to play with me.
  8. Happy girl! She does so well being happy while I put away laundry. I think she just likes sitting on the huge bed.
  9. I constantly burn myself while cooking. I try to be careful, I really do.

Gonna just toss this in here: RJRLAW BAM! Now I have a chance to win an iPad 3!

Mama Kat's Writing Prompts

"5.) Spring fashion is in the air! Put together and share an Spring outfit you’d like someone with money to buy you."

Quick, semi-related, side note: I've determined I'm a happier person when I feel cute. "Cute" in this case is subjective. I can be in sweats and a tee and as long as my hair's not a mess and I don't have dead-face going on, I can feel cute. On the other hand, I can be in a gorgeous outfit, but if it's uncomfortable or my hair's not being nice, I'll feel kinda pooey. I think I'm going to attempt to start limiting the days Quinn and I just chill out in our pajamas. Even if we're not going anywhere. Don't get me wrong, lounge days are  great, but they don't need to be every day. I think it'll help me feel better, especially when we don't have anywhere to go. Now, onto the prompt:

Oh. My. Goodness. I wish I had money to buy a whole new wardrobe. I dress so much better in my mind than in real life. Below are just a few things I'd love to have. I'm especially in love with the bag and the hat, which are, of course, the two most expensive things. Luckily, I own a similar hat. Now, I just need to start hitting up Goodwill every chance I get to find knock-offs of the rest of the items. Or JoAnn's to find some fabric to make my own dress. I'm not sure if I'm quite ready for that yet. Hey, at least I can afford the Starbucks and nail polish, right?

I'm addicted to Polyvore so if you want to, e-mail me or comment with a link to a picture and I'll make one up based on what ~vibe~ I get from you.

Easter Post, Finally

Doing an Easter post eleven days afterward isn't that bad, right? At least I'm doing it in the same month :)

We didn't get Quinn an Easter basket because we figure she wasn't going to remember it and she was gonna get stuff from both of her grandmas.
Now, the part you've been waiting for, I'm sure, the dress I made!

I'm not terribly happy with the top, especially the arm holes, but all in all it was pretty dang cute. The fact that it was on a flipping adorable baby surely helped! She was not a fan of the grass though.

During church she got a bit restless so J and I took turns walking around with her. Well, I walked with her. J did this:

Goofball.

Chloe got to do an egg "hunt" but since she's 2 they weren't really hidden, haha. She didn't want to share at first, but we got her to give Quinn one egg to play with. That's all she needed to be happy.

Well, she was happy for a little bit. She started getting fussy so I handed her my camera to hold, but it went straight to her mouth and before I could stop her there was spit all over it. Now the shutter won't open all the way :( There's a sad looking shadow in the corner of all my photos now. If anybody knows what to do to fix it, I'd bake you cookies or cake or something. After that we took a few more pictures, including one of our little family.

tee - Old Navy, dress - Old Navy, leggings - Target
J's tank - Wal-Mart, button up - JcPenney, jeans - Rue 21
Quinn's dress - handmade by yours truly
And we tried to get a few pictures of all three kids, but they were pretty much done. Levi was sick-ish, Chloe wanted to play, and Quinn wanted to nap. They were all so adorable though!

With Quinn and Levi walking by Christmas, that should be interesting to say the least.
I hope you all had a great Easter and are enjoying the nicer weather that's been going on. Well, minus those few ridiculous storms.

Dopplegangers

Raven at A Momma's Desires & Pacifiers had a Doppleganger link up and it sounded like tons of fun so here are mine!

In the past I've been told I look like Adele, Kate Winslet, and Whitney Port from The Hills,. I think I look a TINY bit like Whitney when I'm blonde, but I don't see any of them really. I can't think of anybody I look like, but feel free to comment or shoot me an e-mail if you think of one because I'd love to know.

My Heritage told me the same thing I usually get. Asians. I don't know what it is that makes that website think I look Asian, but it also popped up with a surprise young Jensen Ackles. He's gorgeous (now, at least) so that's okay, even though he's a guy.

Then I went to Picadilo and got a couple better suggestions with a picture from 2010.

Then I got some not so great suggestions with a more recent picture.

Four dudes? One of which is Michael Bloomberg??? And Ronaldo? I've gone through a few of the other blogs linked up and he shows up a lot. Maybe he's got a deal going on with Picadilo.

For funsies I put J in and this is what he got:

He was offended, haha! He was okay with Joe Mantegna though, since he's on Criminal Minds. Neither of us see any resemblance though.

I think he kind of looks like a young Cary Elwes, but that's just me :)

Go do your own look-a-likes and link up!

Time for Confessions

I don't know why I didn't type this up earlier, now I can't think of anything. Excuse the short descriptions, hopefully after Quinn goes to bed tonight I can type up an Easter post. And maybe a post about yesterday's tornados. I'm kinda sucking at this blogging thing. Eh, onto the confessions.

1. I can almost NEVER sit "normal" at the computer. I either am criss crossed or have my feet up on the wall or one leg up on the chair under me. J makes fun of me for it.

In other news, Your Highness is an incredibly stupid and insulting movie. I don't recommend ANYBODY watch it.

Pictures!

This has nothing to do with the rest of the post, but I must tell you. After about a week of sleeping HORRENDOUSLY Quinn slept through the night last night. I feel awesome right now!

85. This has no story behind it, but, seriously, who can resist adorable little baby feet?

86. File this under awesome things Pinterest has brought to me. I cannot, for the life of me, find the original person who discovered this or first blogged about it, but here's my Pinterest link if you want to repin it. It's awesome. You buy green onions, chop off what you need, then rubberband them together and stick them in some water. Change the water every three days and BAM they regrow. Just keep changing the water and cutting off what you need.

87. Baby girl and I went on a walk and God decided to bless us with a gorgeous sky! Seriously though, my camera could not capture just how beautiful this was.

88. And the picture of Nana & Monkey I promised. Aren't they adorable?

89. It rained so I went outside and played in the puddles. What? Don't all 22 year old moms do that? Quinn thought it was funny, although I'm not sure if J was amused or embarrassed, haha.

90. This is the last  day the high chair still looked new. I got the bowl of carrots a little too close to Quinn and suddenly they were all over the place. This is after I had cleaned some up and she didn't like that so she got some carrots off her mouth and started playing again. Of course I snapped a picture, what kind of blogger would I be if I hadn't?

91. I don't remember what J or I did to get her to laugh like this, but OMG does this picture make my heart flutter. Nothing is cuter than a baby's smile or laugh and as a mom nothing is cuter than YOUR baby's smile or laugh.

92. For those of you who don't know J in real life, let me tell you a quick story. J used to have long-ish (almost to his shoulders) wavy, blonde, scraggly hair. He wanted to be a rock star and rock stars have long hair, right? It was bad. Before I even knew he liked me I told him he needed to get a hair cut and that he'd look cuter with contacts. A week or so later he shows up with shorter hair and contacts and asks me out. How romantic is that? Anyway, now he doesn't let his hair get too long (I don't 'let' him), but it was getting far too long so he went and got a hair cut. He looks much more handsome like this, I think.

93. If Quinn's nap time works out right she's getting a snack about 3:15pm. Every day during that snack time she starts staring at the door because she knows it's time for J to come home. It gets difficult to keep her happy for that twenty or so minutes, but the smile on her face when he walks in the door is absolutely priceless.

94. Quinn normally sleeps with her head on the end of the crib that is the bottom of this picture. More and more often I'm finding her either sideways (like this) or completely turned around. I have no idea how she does it without waking herself up, but it's amusing nonetheless. Yesterday I heard her giggling to herself and just yammering away. She had turned around and was talking to herself in the mirror (you can kind of see it at the top of the picture). I almost didn't want to interrupt her, it sounded very important.

95. The things that little girl will let me put on her head without it bugging her amazes me. She was getting fidgety during a diaper change so I put her pants on her head and she just laid there, staring at me like it was normal.

96. I made smoothie packs! Granted, I haven't actually gotten to enjoy any. That would be Quinn's fault. She HATES the sound of the blender or food processor unless I'm holding her and it's really just not that easy to do while holding a very squirmy baby. My "recipe" is a handful or two of spinach leaves, a chopped up banana, a handful or two of cut up strawberries, a handful or two of small cubed cantaloupe, a 1/2 cup of juice or a container of greek yogurt. You can freeze the fruits and veggies and then pop them into your blender with the juice or yogurt whenever you want a smoothie. Provided you don't have a baby who will make that difficult.

97. It rained again :) I like the rain, but preferably only after 3:30pm and on weekends. J works outside and doesn't like working in the rain.

Easter pictures coming soon! I promise!!!
