Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Pretty sure everybody and their mom has at least heard about this book by now, if not read it themselves. If you haven't or still aren't sure what it's about the GoodReads synopsis is here. If you don't want spoilers know that I'd absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries or thrillers or mind twists. Also, I had to wait like two months to get this book from my library, ridiculous.

*WARNING: SPOILERS START*

Now that that's out of the way, I need to say: Woah. That was a crazy book.

I went through so many emotions and feelings towards both Nick and Amy. Up until almost the end, I still didn't want Amy to get caught. I don't know if that makes me crazy or what considering she's a sociopath, but I still kinda felt bad for her. Then she killed Desi and I didn't like her so much after that. Let's just say, Nick and Amy deserve each other and I'm worried (fictionally worried, not really worried) for their baby.

*SPOILERS END*

There wasn't anything I disliked about this book, except for the cursing, but it seemed to flow okay with the characters. I think Gillian Flynn did a great job developing the characters of Nick and Amy, only letting us know what Amy wanted us to know when she wanted us to know it. I'm definitely going to look into reading her other books.

I've heard/read rumors that they're making a movie and I think that'd be awesome, but I also think it'd make a really good mini-series. I think they'd be able to develop the story better that way. Names thrown out (just by random people, I believe) for Amy are Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron, and Yvonne Strahovski (from Dexter). I don't particularly like Charlize as an actress, but either of the other two ladies would be cool to see. The biggest thing is that she needs to look good as a blonde and have kind of an East Coast, good girl kind of look to her.

And I'm thinking someone who looks like Chace Crawford or Jason Lewis as Nick. He needs to kind a look like a douche bag, as bad as that sounds. Preppy, I guess, might be a better description.

I never have the questions at the end of my posts, but I feel like this is a good one to do that on. Who do you think would be good for the roles?

I just may have to read this book! It is funny that you blogged about it. I decided a while back that I am going to blog about the books I read too. There will be one soon for Life of Pi! :)
